The history from MarathonPit By Mariano Peinado.

 

Given my liking to the races of athletics of long distance, in 2005 I had the idea to leave to run with my American Pit Bull Terrier called Villa Liberty´s "Patches". The experience was very pleasing and satisfactory. Therefore, I thought about making competitions of athletics with APBT so that them helped to the athlete during the competition and did not feel single nor boring in the training. This new modality Work - Sport, I denominates like "MarathonPit".

 

The objective of the "MarathonPit", is to offer a new alternative to develop by the dogs of the fans of the APBT, this way we guided by healthful, positive and sport ways to the APBT, their owners and fans.

 

Another one of the important objectives of the "MarathonPit", is that it makes one magnifies self-defense in the APBT, since everything what surrounds to athletics enjoys very good image facing the society. In this case, the APBT when being within this Work - Sport, benefits from this positive image, which and given the negative circumstances that surround to our wonderful and noble breed dog in the times of the present time, is not for far from negligible.

 

The MarathonPit is a modality derived from mushing (shot of sleigh with dogs). The MarathonPit is a work-sport discipline that consist of running with a APBT tied to the waist with a scaling belt and an elastic firing line that goes until the harness of the animal.

 

In order to practice it, a harness is only needed shot for the dog (they are not valid those of stroll nor those of drag weight), an elastic firing line and a belt of scaling for the runner, this belt is the more wide to protect the back of the runner of the pulls of the dog.

 

You can make MarathonPIt to compete or simply practicing it like sport in which to share time and experiences with your companion, for to consolidate your relation. The ideal is to go to the field to train, but if it is not possible, also it is possible to be practiced in a park in the city.

 

The binomial man-APBT makes this sport specially attractive, that only the one that practices it can describe.

 

When the APBT practice the "MarathonPit" show his or her "Game", developing it effective and positively, since when the animal is exhausted, by the simple reason to please and to help to his human companion of run, find forces for to continue helping to his companion and positively finish the entrusted work, although will be very hard the circumstances for their accomplishment.

 

The idea of the "MarathonPit" was very well welcomed by the Spanish fans and of other countries and this being practiced nowadays by many fans, being a sport in rise that day to day goes to more. It is an excellent activity, in that we put at the same time in form to our APBT that to we ourself. Making the "MarathonPit", we developed a high level of mutual understanding with our dogs, creating a degree of complicity with the animal very high, only the people that practices "MarathonPit" can get to include/understand.

 

I consider, that the MarathonPit  (work-sport), is going to be something very beneficial for the positive image of the APBT. In addition, it will serve like reference to follow for the young people when they begin with his first APBT, obtaining in this way a very healthful relation for the dogs as for his owners and fans. Also I try, which this modality work-deports serves like datum point for the breeders of this breed dog, to value his respective dogs that compete in the MarathonPit and reflecting if they are developing his breeding of a suitable way or no.

 

For these reasons, will be very much interesting for the breed and for the fans, owners, breeders and clubs go ahead and promote this modality alltogether, since the APBT needs that good image there this where this (given the unjust persecution that suffers), since I understand that the MarathonPit is going to contribute to enough good things to the APBT and their fans through the sport.

 

The FIAPBT, wishes to integrate in their rows clubs of MarathonPit of different countries, so that there are enough competitions of this new modality and in a term of prudent time, when this modality already is seated, to once arrange to the year a Championship of the World, to value the level of the APBT in this discipline in all this countries.
